![]() ![]() The advanced user will say, "Oh wow, python point release, better rebuild all my AUR stuff with files in the site-packages directory" for a new user who doesn't understand much about the system they will simply experience every AUR package on their system with a python dependency breaking at once. That's not true for all new users and something that will take experienced users only a minute or two to diagnose and fix can easily take down things for a new user completely.Ī good example is having to rebuild AUR packages after a big library update. Chances are you are savvy enough to understand how to fix most issues or find answers quickly due to that long experience. These aren't faults of the Arch developers (except in one or two cases) but a result of running the latest software on multiple hardware and software configurations. I've run into multiple kernel-level bugs among other issues. In 10 years of using Arch I have not needed to worry about what an upgrade might do, I just do them whenever and have not had any big issues ![]()
